Letter of the week: Ss

Learning Targets: 

Reading: 

I can read, write and find the letter Ss.

I can read our sight words: a, as, the, to and little. 

THIS WEEKS NEW SIGHT WORDS: 

have, is

Writing: 

I can copy whole sentences correctly using a capital at the beginning and period at the end. 

I can use my lines to properly form letters. 

I can begin to try and phonetically spell words. 

Math: 

I can use spatial language when describing where objects are. 

I can say or write numbers that are greater or less than a given quantity. 

I can count to 50 and identify numbers 1-10. 

Other: 

I will understand that looking closely at nature helps me appreciate and see new and different things about our world.




Other things we are working on: 

Being able to recall characters and events in a story

Syllables 

Ask your child what the signal and sound is for each letter

- Practicing how to cut, glue, draw, and use paint 

- We will begin working on 2-D shapes this week!

We will also be doing weekly November Art projects! Don't be worried if you don't see them coming home. They will be in the end of the year portfolios :)

How to help at home:

 - Read with your child every night
 
- Count with your child

- Ask them to write their name on items

- Do crafts that involve coloring,painting, cutting,and or pasting

- Help them identify letters and numbers. Use letter flash cards at home to help improve their test scores 

- Quiz them on their sight words, shapes, letters, and sounds!
