Letter of the week: 

We have finished all letters and will begin working on blends: 

th, sh, ch, wh

Learning Targets: 

Reading: 

I know all of my letters and sounds.  
I can show this by being able to sound out, write, and find these letters.

I will be able to blend and segment sounds in words. 
I can show this by being able to read and write cvc words. 

I will show understanding of our group reading text. 
I can show this by being engaged and participating in discussions, being able to give details about the characters and setting and showing a relationship between text and illustrations.  

I will know my sight words: I, am, the, little, a, to, have, is, we, like, my, he, for, look, see, she, with, me, 
I can show this by being able to read, write, and find all sight words. 

Writing: 

I will write my letters in proper form. 
 I can show this by going to the proper lines (sky, plane, grass and worm). 

I can write sentences with a capital, period, and proper sight word spelling. 
I can do this by using phonetic spelling for my words, and using the writing rubric to check that I have not missed anything. 
Math: 
I will know my numbers 1-20 
I can show this by being able to write, find and count to 20. 

**This week we are working on subtraction !!!*** 

I can count to 100. 

Science:

- reading 


We will also be doing weekly January Art projects! Don't be worried if you don't see them coming home. They will be in the end of the year portfolios :)

How to help at home:

 - Read with your child every night
 
- Count with your child

- Ask them to write their first and last name on items

- Do crafts that involve coloring,painting, cutting,and or pasting

- Help them identify letters and numbers. Use letter flash cards at home to help improve their test scores 

- Quiz them on their sight words, shapes, letters, and sounds!
