February Update:

posted Feb 8, 2018, 12:54 PM by David Starkey

Castle Rock Intermediate Families:

It’s hard to believe we are already in February! Where has the time gone?

With that, we have many upcoming events here at Castle Rock Intermediate School. One of the biggest topics that teachers are preparing for is Smarter Balance Testing. SBAC testing will take place during the month of May. Currently, our staff at CRIS is working hard to create the best testing schedule possible for our students. More information regarding testing will be coming very soon.

Another hot topic at the intermediate school is math intervention. Each Wednesday our students will be receiving an additional 30-40 minutes of mathematics. The intervention is designed to support, bridge and challenge our students at their individual level. Each student grades 3-5 will have a weekly intervention.

Spring conferences is currently another topic on our brain. We will be having our spring conferences on March 13-15. On these days students will be released from school at 12:00. Teachers will be sending out conference times here in the next couple weeks. Please be checking your child’s Friday folder for more information. If you would like to have a conference regarding your students progress, feel free to contact your child’s teacher or our front office at 360-501-2910.

These are only a few items that were are encountering here at CRIS. As the year continues, I will be adding updates and other important information regarding events here at the intermediate school.

As always, I encourage you to contact the school if you have any questions or concerns at

(360) 501-2910.

Thank you for partnering with Castle Rock Intermediate School to create the best learning opportunity for you child. You support is appreciated!

PE ROCKS the Elementary School

posted Aug 31, 2016, 2:03 PM by kurt wallace   [ updated Sep 14, 2016, 12:17 PM ]

Welcome back!! We are excited for PE this year at Castle Rock Elementary!!

Please have students wear PE shoes on PE days.  Wearing the correct type of footwear in PE will result in fewer injures and will allow the student to perform at a higher level of activity. It will also help keep our gym floor scuff free. Encourage children who wear sandals, boots, flip flops or heels to school to be thinking ahead about PE days and pack a pair into their backpack, or if they have a locker they can keep them there.

We have added a daily class PE Schedule of who comes to PE on our website under Elementary PE. Please just click on the DOWN ARROW to see it so we can get all of our kids in class safely participating :) You can also see it here below-just scroll down!!

Thanks for sharing your great kids with us here at the ROCK where we will be learning new skills to move and play, showing how to move and use a plan while playing games, showing how to get fit and stay fit, acting and treating others fairly and respectfully while playing, and knowing why it's important to be physically active for a lifetime!
Mr. Davis will take the lead for grades: K, 1, & 2.
Mr. Wallace will take the lead for grades: 3, 4, 5.

Thank you,

Scholastic Summer Reading Lists

posted Aug 17, 2016, 1:35 PM by Paul Nelson

The Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge is a free online reading program dedicated to encouraging kids to read every day this summer. Studies show that when kids don’t read over the summer, they lose core reading skills and fall behind when they go back to school. This year’s Summer Reading Challenge focuses on the helping kids achieve the “Summer Leap” — the learning or reading skills gained during the summer months that help students prepare to tackle the upcoming school year.
