Author Visit
Suzanne Selfors

We loved having best-selling author Suzanne Selfors visit our school and community. An assembly for our intermediate students occurred on Read Across America Day and Mrs. Selfors stuck around to autograph books during student lunches!

Mrs. Selfors visited the Vault Books & Brew in downtown Castle Rock at 5:30 pm on March 2 and read from her hilarious 2nd book about characters Wedgie and Gizmo. Books were for sale at the book store and many had them autographed before leaving the Vault!

Mrs. Selfors donated her time to our kids and community. This was an invaluable gift! THANKS!

Thanks also to the Vault Books and Brew for introducing us to Suzanne Selfors (and her books) and inviting her to Castle Rock!

A huge thank you to Mt. St. Helen's Motel for providing a room for our guest author!

Thank you to Mrs. Julie Davidson, retired Castle Rock Director of Student Programs, for providing homemade treats for Suzanne.

Another huge thank you to Miss Williams for all her hard work and commitment in planning this day/event for our students at Castle Rock Intermediate School. Without her, this event wouldn't have been possible.

Also, thank you to PTO for helping fill Mrs. Selfor's gas tank for her trip to and from Castle Rock!

Check out the CLC page for more pictures of this event!

February Update:

posted Feb 8, 2018, 12:54 PM by David Starkey

Castle Rock Intermediate Families:

It’s hard to believe we are already in February! Where has the time gone?

With that, we have many upcoming events here at Castle Rock Intermediate School. One of the biggest topics that teachers are preparing for is Smarter Balance Testing. SBAC testing will take place during the month of May. Currently, our staff at CRIS is working hard to create the best testing schedule possible for our students. More information regarding testing will be coming very soon.

Another hot topic at the intermediate school is math intervention. Each Wednesday our students will be receiving an additional 30-40 minutes of mathematics. The intervention is designed to support, bridge and challenge our students at their individual level. Each student grades 3-5 will have a weekly intervention.

Spring conferences is currently another topic on our brain. We will be having our spring conferences on March 13-15. On these days students will be released from school at 12:00. Teachers will be sending out conference times here in the next couple weeks. Please be checking your child’s Friday folder for more information. If you would like to have a conference regarding your students progress, feel free to contact your child’s teacher or our front office at 360-501-2910.

These are only a few items that were are encountering here at CRIS. As the year continues, I will be adding updates and other important information regarding events here at the intermediate school.

As always, I encourage you to contact the school if you have any questions or concerns at

(360) 501-2910.

Thank you for partnering with Castle Rock Intermediate School to create the best learning opportunity for you child. You support is appreciated!

I couldn't be more thrilled with what a great staff we have at CRES for the 2016-2017 school year. I am extremely lucky to serve and work with such a great group of educators.

Watch out Castle Rock.... Good things are coming to the elementary!!!!!
