Congratulations to all who participated in the 2017 Lil' Squatches race. Castle Rock Elementary earned $2,625 for our schools. I couldn't be more thrilled with what a great staff we have at CRES for the 2016-2017 school year. I am extremely lucky to serve and work with such a great group of educators.

PE ROCKS the Elementary School

posted Aug 31, 2016, 2:03 PM by kurt wallace   [ updated Sep 14, 2016, 12:17 PM ]

Welcome back!! We are excited for PE this year at Castle Rock Elementary!!

Please have students wear PE shoes on PE days.  Wearing the correct type of footwear in PE will result in fewer injures and will allow the student to perform at a higher level of activity. It will also help keep our gym floor scuff free. Encourage children who wear sandals, boots, flip flops or heels to school to be thinking ahead about PE days and pack a pair into their backpack, or if they have a locker they can keep them there.

We have added a daily class PE Schedule of who comes to PE on our website under Elementary PE. Please just click on the DOWN ARROW to see it so we can get all of our kids in class safely participating :) You can also see it here below-just scroll down!!

Thanks for sharing your great kids with us here at the ROCK where we will be learning new skills to move and play, showing how to move and use a plan while playing games, showing how to get fit and stay fit, acting and treating others fairly and respectfully while playing, and knowing why it's important to be physically active for a lifetime!
Mr. Davis will take the lead for grades: K, 1, & 2.
Mr. Wallace will take the lead for grades: 3, 4, 5.

Thank you,

Scholastic Summer Reading Lists

posted Aug 17, 2016, 1:35 PM by Paul Nelson

The Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge is a free online reading program dedicated to encouraging kids to read every day this summer. Studies show that when kids don’t read over the summer, they lose core reading skills and fall behind when they go back to school. This year’s Summer Reading Challenge focuses on the helping kids achieve the “Summer Leap” — the learning or reading skills gained during the summer months that help students prepare to tackle the upcoming school year.
