March 31st 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians:

It was so nice conferences with most of you this week!! If you ever have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to call, email, send a note, etc.  I hope everyone has an AMAZING spring break and comes back ready to learn!!

 -Upcoming Events-

April 3rd-7th (Monday-Friday): Spring Break

April 10th (Monday): School resumes at 8am

April 17th & 18th (Monday & Tuesday) Kindergarten Registration

-What we’ve been learning-

Dealing with a different schedule/routine.  Having early dismissal most of the week and a different schedule threw some of us off but once they got the idea and realized the expectations stayed the same most dealt with it very well.

Letters:  Review of letters and blends, especially blends as some of us still need some extra help with those.

Words: Reviewing all 29 sight words both in reading and writing them

Writing: Working on letter formation, remember our capital letter at the beginning, and punctuation at the end.

Math:  Review numbers 0-20 (writing and recognizing), counting to 100, and simple addition

-What we will be working on-

When we get back we will be reviewing our classroom rules and expectations and our schools.  This month we’re focusing on being safe.  We will talk about what being safe looks and sounds like.  We will also talk about the differences in being safe from the playground to the classroom and everywhere in between.

Letters:  Ee

Words: here, go, from

Writing: We are going to start extending our writing from 1-2 sentences to 2-3.  We will be focusing on this for the next several weeks as this is a big transition and reviews other skills (upper case first letters, ending marks, sounding words out, etc.) while practicing the new skill of extending our thoughts and words.

Math:  Simple subtraction

-Things to work on at home-

Read, read, read!

Counting to 100-By 1s, 5s, & 10s.

Our sight Words (knowing them instantly and writing them), we’ll be at 32 when we get back from spring break.

Thanks,

Ashley Fulton
