Welcome to Aarrghh Crew!

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year.  I hope everyone has had a fantastic summer.  I am happy to be back at school and I am excited about the coming school year.

We will continue having our incoming 6th grade attend the first day of school on their own to learn about all things at Castle Rock Middle School.  Tuesday, September 4, 2018 only 6th grade students along with middle school staff will be working together to get acquainted for the school year.  On this same day, we will be conducting a similar program at our high school for incoming freshman.  6th graders will participate in some ice-breaker games and activities to get to know each other and staff, discuss how to be successful at the middle school, meet teachers, take a tour, get locker assignments, and run through a mini day on their own.

Classes for students in grades seventh and eighth will begin on Wednesday September 5, 2018.   There has been a time change at the middle school please note that classes will begin promptly at 7:55 A.M. and the school day will end at 2:40 P.M.  Remember that Huntington Avenue gets very crowded in the morning so give yourself plenty of time to have your student on time every day.

School lunches will be available the first day of school.  Free and reduced fee lunches will be available to those students who qualify during the school year.  Each student (even those who qualified last year) will be required to complete a new meal application for this school year in order to maintain this benefit.

The office is now open from 7:15 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., please stop by and pay for lunches, yearbooks and take care of fees (sports fees, ASB cards and PE uniforms-if your uniform still fits you may wear the same one, no need to buy a new one (6th, 7th and 8th grade) and fines.  Reminder that different checks are needed for different accounts.  If you are paying for sports fees, yearbook or ASB card--all can go on one check.  PE uniforms, and fees and fines need to be on separate check. The office/building will be closed to the public on August 30th.

On the evening of  Tuesday September 4th, students and their parents are welcome to come meet teachers from 5:00 PM -6:30 PM.  If your student is enrolled in AVID, there will be an informational meeting at 6:30 PM in the cafeteria.  No payments will be taken during open house; this is an opportunity for parents and their students to become familiar with the building and our staff.

By September 1, schedules will be available online for students to view.  If you cannot view or print your schedule, one will be available on the first day of school.  Don’t forget to check out our website for events and information, www.crschools.org, select the middle school from the drop down menu.  We also have a Facebook page - Castle Rock Middle School, Home of the Pirates.

It’s going to be a great year.  I look forward to meeting and working with all of you in the coming school year.

Sincerely,

Tiffaney Golden, Principal
