Welcome back Students/Families!

Remote Learning: I am excited to start a new year with students and families in Castle Rock! Although high school students will begin school remotely, I am hoping that we can end the year at school and in-person. CRSD’s decisions are guided by the CDC and Governor Inslee. As Cowlitz County COVID-19 cases drop, we have plans in place to move to a Hybrid Learning, depending on the Phase we are in. Please see Plan for Reopening Schools for the 2020-2021 School Year for more information. All information can be found at for New School Year Calendar, Online Bell Schedule, Continuous Learning 2.0 Plan. Please carefully read over the information.

First Day of School: September 8th

Sample Student Class 1st Period:

8:00-8:50: Teacher begins class (synchronous) in Google Meet with the whole class. Teacher instructs students for 30 minutes. Teacher then gives classwork/homework. Teacher stays in Google Meet to answer questions or help students in a small group. Students who do not need further instruction, exit Google Meet and work on homework (asynchronous). The teacher will stay on Google Meet and students may join again for further assistance.

8:50-9:15: Teacher remains in Google Meet to work with small groups, reteach, or answer questions.

Communication: Please keep in mind that CRHS will be contacting each family soon to ask about internet connectivity, chromebooks, school food, etc. Student schedules will be mailed home, emailed through Skyward, or available to pick up before school starts.

Goals: Castle Rock High School’s goals this year are to continue focusing on rigor within instruction and creating a safe and positive culture. Staff will have safety training with COVID-19 and intense online training with how to teach remotely, asynchronously and synchronously.

This year we are also adding a Character Strong curriculum to assist students with Social/Emotional needs.

New Staff: Castle Rock High School would like to welcome Susan Denison as an English/Language Arts teacher and Miguel Lopez as a Spanish teacher. The CRHS Assistant Principal, Jennifer Godinho, has also moved to the Intermediate Elementary School as the new Principal.

Principal’s Focus: As the principal, my focus is to prepare teachers with online instruction and communicate with students and families.

Remember, we are in this together.

Take care and Go Rockets!
