We hope your family has enjoyed a fun, safe, and relaxing summer. Our staff has been working hard to prepare for this school year, and we are excited to welcome everyone back to campus.<\/p>\n<p>A special welcome to our<em><strong> new 6th grade students and families!<\/strong><\/em> We know starting middle school is a big milestone, and we are looking forward to getting to know you, helping you feel at home, and supporting your success every step of the way.<\/p>\n<p>To our returning<em><strong> 7th and 8th graders<\/strong><\/em>\u2014welcome back! We can&#8217;t wait to see you again and are excited to build on the relationships, learning, and traditions that make Castle Rock Middle School.<\/p>\n<p>This year, we have made improvements to our daily schedule with one goal in mind: <strong><em>providing<\/em> every student with the support and challenge they need to grow.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our updated schedule places an even greater emphasis on the foundational skills that help students succeed in every subject:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u25cf Reading<br \/>\n\u25cf Writing<br \/>\n\u25cf Mathematics<\/p>\n<p>By dedicating more time to these core academic areas, we will be able to provide:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u25cf Targeted interventions for students who need additional support.<br \/>\n\u25cf Meaningful extensions and enrichment for students who are ready for new challenges.<br \/>\n\u25cf Flexible opportunities to meet students where they are and help them continue to grow throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>Middle school is an important time to build strong academic foundations, and we believe this new structure will better prepare students for success in high school.<\/p>\n<p>As part of these changes, we are shifting away from a traditional elective model and moving toward <em><strong>exploratory learning experiences<\/strong><\/em> that introduce students to future opportunities through <em><strong>STEM<\/strong><\/em> (<strong><em>Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics<\/em><\/strong>) and<strong><em> Career<\/em> Exploration.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These experiences are designed to spark curiosity, build problem-solving skills, encourage creativity, and help students begin discovering interests that may lead to future careers and passions.<\/p>\n<p>Our mission is to provide a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment where every student feels valued, challenged, and supported. My educational career began with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education with endorsements in K-12 Reading and K-8 Elementary Education from Eastern Washington University. I started my teaching career at Castle Rock Middle School teaching math and ELAl. I taught math for 6 years, while also working on a Masters of Arts in Education and a Principal Credential through Washington State University. After I completed my credential I had the opportunity to be the Dean of Students at Castle Rock High School for 3 years before coming back to the middle school. I am beginning my 20th year as principal at Castle Rock Middle School. My family and I have lived in Castle Rock since 1997.<\/p>\n<h4>My Why &#8211;<\/h4>\n<p>Relationships. I really enjoy getting to know students and their families. Making strong bonds helps us understand each other better. I also love reading and learning. It&#8217;s exciting to share this passion and help others get excited about it too.
